Miracle Monday…Meet Lucy!

At Lucy’s three-month checkup, a heart murmur was heard and was diagnosed with atrial septal disorder (hole in the heart). Atrial septal defect is a hole in the wall that separates the top two chambers of the heart. Small atrial septal defects may close on their own during infancy or early childhood. Her physician monitored the hole to see if it would get smaller,  but it remained open. When she was four years old, Lucy had a mesh implant placed in her heart which would allow the skin to grow around it to close the hole. Today Lucy is a normal 10 year old. She loves music, dancing, gymnastics and playing soccer.

Thanks to our Children’s Miracle Network partners and supporters we are able to fund the playroom in the hospital, so kids like Lucy, can have some fun during their stay at the hospital. We would not be able to do this without your continued support!
